GET MIDI "Hobson Street Blues" LISTEN

Performer:John Roache
Composer:Bob Zurke
Arranged by:John Roache

A great example of the work of pianist/composer Bob Zurke. Written in 1940, this piece is a fine example of the "swing" piano style of that time. Not really a "blues" piece, the performer is instructed in the score to "Play As Fast As Possible"! This is an example of the evolution of ragtime as Scott Joplin often published his rags with the warning to perfomers to "Never play this piece fast. It is never right to play ragtime fast".
