CD "Nimble Fingered Gentleman" - Tony Caramia
Caramia gives us a full disk of Billy Mayerl masterpieces. Caramia's interpretations are masterful if somewhat schmaltzy. Mayerl was a contemporary of Gershwin and although they were separated by the Atlantic ocean (Mayerl was English), their music has many similarities. I sometimes wonder if one was copying from the other. Who stole from whom always makes for interesting musical conversation.

CD "The Original James P. Johnson 1942-1945" - James P. Johnson
These rare recordings from late in the career of James P. have been saved from oblivion. These takes are some of the best from stridemaster Johnson. Every stride fan should have this cd. It contains the recording of "Snowy Mornin' Blues" upon which I based my MIDI sequence. I consider that recording to be the best 3 minutes JPJ stride ever recorded.
